This is the first time the Miracle Mile Art Walk is being produced independently. In December of 2011, a decision was made to operate independent of the Community Councils due to funding and donation restriction bylaws, governed by Los Angeles City Council. A new program partnership has begun with Piercy Charitable Foundation, a local 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to literacy and the arts in Southern California. The producer of the Miracle Mile Art Walk is now allowed to raise funds which leading to more programming, and the opportunity to increase and build upon the success of this community based art walk within the largest Arts District, west of the Mississippi.

In keeping with the true spirit of community, the MMAW and area Community Councils are now considered community partners in the support of the Miracle Mile Art Walk and all forms of art throughout the Mid City Council Districts. In addition to new programming are two new flyers by designer and contemporary artist Adam “Codak” Smith. As always, banners will mark the galleries participating in the Miracle Mile Art Walk.

The team behind the Miracle Mile Art Walk (MMAW) is excited to announce their newest sponsor La Brea; La Brea, an 84,000 square foot building located between 1st and 2nd Street on South La Brea Avenue is owned and operated by Madison Marquette, a leading investor, developer, and operator of retail and mixed use real estate throughout the United States.

In celebration of this new partnership they are working together to create the “Miracle Mile Art Walk Community Marketplace”, during the Saturday, March 3rd Miracle Mile Art Walk. The space provided by Madison Marquette will be utilized and turned into a one-day pop-up “Community Marketplace” in their newly renovated and very stylish development.

Booth spaces are going quickly. This is the perfect opportunity for cottage industry creative business owners who produce and sell handmade goods; honoring practices that promote sustainability, regional legacies or offer “locally grown” ideas to sell their creations in a new and very hip location. La Brea General Manager, Brandt Leitze shares, “Bringing local and regional brands in a co-op atmosphere will not only help raise capital for the Miracle Mile Art Walk, but will also drive awareness to “District La Brea” the newest shopping destination in Los Angeles. Vendors that fit into the La Brea vision and the art walk will be considered.

A percentage of proceeds will go to helping the Miracle Mile Art Walk expand programming and offset operational costs.” In addition to this new partnership, is all day parking for $1.00 in La Brea’s landmark parking structure painted by Los Angeles based muralist and street artist, Shepard Fairey.

Following the Marketplace is the MMAW after-party, co-sponsored by LaBrea, Jarritos and featuring DJ Pelau, from 8:00-10:00pm.  “DJ Pelau AKA Mr. Marlon is a music writer/blogger/columnist who also specializes in ‘music design’ for lots of atmospheres, spaces n places!”   Food trucks will be in the neighborhood, along with the Jarritos Truck, serving their “mini-jars” full of colorful colors and flavorful flavors, and a few more details to be confirmed.
